Yes, that's a real photo. It's been around since the days before Photoshop(R). There's also a Lake Avenue in Metry that is known for filling up with and holding water in even the most gentle spring showers. Irony, indeed. If I was in the property development business, I'd give the streets names like "High'n'Dry Lane" and "Waterproof Avenue." Who knows, it might work...
ha, 'high and dry lane'. . . very good, . i always thought calling a road 'river' that is next to a river was asking for trouble. there is a town near morgan city called 'waterproof'. a.g. and i passed there one day in a driving rain and died laffin'.
I believe it was 1975 and me and Patsy Brannigan were high as kites while drivin' through Waterproof, LA in a blinding rainstorm. Laughing ourselves silly watching the bayou rise, pretty little town though.
Then years later me and my soon-to-be ex-wife rented a film called Waterproof (w/Burt Reynolds) that was set in that town.
Good little film, kind of a "poor man's" version of Hurry Sundown ....at least that's what it reminded me of.
Would'a been a better film with a coupl'a Googies thrown in...
i think i got a' smattering of the old blarney, not as much as the sicilian vein. . . how did you get a moniker like 'the wop' anyways, leo? if i remember correctly you be french or some kinda continetal thingy. . . you seem more refined.
You better take another look at Rickey Polo, then...Looks like he just'a got offa da banana boat...Art's mama was full Italian, family come from nort of Roma.......
